What is a Vape Juice?
A vape juice (or e cig liquid) is the specialised liquid used in e-cigarettes and vape kits for that flavoury sensation and vapour production. It is a carefully formulated solution typically composed of four key ingredients:
- Propylene Glycol (PG): A flavour carrier in a vape liquid. It has a thin consistency and provides a throat hit similar to traditional cigarettes.
- Vegetable Glycerin (VG): A thick liquid concentrate with a slightly sweet taste. It helps produce visible vapour clouds.
- Flavourings: Taste providers in your e-juice. These are food-grade fruity, sweet, cool menthol and tobacco essences that bless your taste buds while vaping.
- Nicotine (Optional): This is an optional component of an e-juice. These are available in different strengths (up to 20mg TPD compliant) and forms (freebase or nicotine salts) to satisfy smoke cravings. Some e-liquids also have 0mg nicotine strength, like shortfills.
How are Vaping Styles and E-Liquids Connected?
Each vape liquid category is for a specific vaping style and device. Here is how they correlate:
- Mouth-to-Lung (MTL) Vaping: This smoking-like style pairs best with an e liquid that has a 50PG/50VG e-liquid. This balanced e-juice range wicks efficiently with higher resistance coils (1.0 ohm or above) and provides a satisfying throat hit.
- Direct-to-Lung (DTL) Vaping: This style works optimally with high-VG e-liquids, e.g., 70VG/30PG or 80VG/20PG. These thicker liquids produce denser clouds and a smoother throat hit.
