How Vape Kits Work
A vape kit brings together the device and the pod or tank system it's designed to use. Depending on the model, the coil may be built into a replaceable pod or supplied separately so you can change the coil while continuing to use the pod or tank.
Some kits use refillable pods or tanks that you fill with a suitable e-liquid. Others use prefilled pods or model-specific refill components. That's why it's worth checking what a device uses — and what you'll need to replace later — before choosing purely on battery size, appearance or advertised features.
Controls vary as well. Some kits keep things simple with draw activation and automatic power adjustment. Others give you buttons, adjustable wattage, airflow controls or a display.

How to Choose a Vape Kit
Start with how you actually want to use the device.
If you don't want to fill pods or tanks yourself, a prefilled system keeps that side of things simpler. If you'd rather choose your own e-liquid while keeping the device compact, a refillable pod kit may make more sense. Larger tank and mod-style setups are worth considering if adjustable power, airflow and a wider choice of coils matter more to you than keeping the device small.
Then think about the draw. MTL devices generally have a tighter draw, RDTL sits between MTL and a more open DTL setup, while DTL devices generally use more open airflow.
Finally, look beyond the device itself. Check which pod, coil or refill it uses, whether those replacements are easy to find, what type of e-liquid the manufacturer recommends and exactly what comes in the box.

Types of Vape Kits
The names used for different vape kits can make the category seem more complicated than it needs to be. The main difference is usually how the device holds e-liquid, what you replace and how much control you have over the setup.
Pod Kits
Pod kits use removable pods rather than a traditional tank. Some pods are refillable, while others arrive prefilled. On certain systems the coil is built into the pod; on others it can be replaced separately. They're worth looking at if you want something compact without automatically limiting yourself to a prefilled system.
Starter Kits

Vape Pens

Prefilled or Refillable Vape Kit?
This is one of the easiest ways to narrow down the choice.
With a prefilled kit, the e-liquid comes in a compatible prefilled pod, cartridge or refill component. There's less filling to think about, but you're buying into that device's replacement system, so check what refills are available before choosing.
A refillable kit lets you add a suitable bottled e-liquid to the pod or tank yourself. Some use pods with built-in coils, while others let you replace the coil separately.
Refillable doesn't automatically mean complicated, and prefilled doesn't mean every device works the same way. The individual product page should tell you exactly what the kit uses.

MTL, RDTL and DTL — What Do They Mean?
These terms describe how you inhale and how open the draw generally feels.
MTL (Mouth to Lung) usually means a tighter draw. You draw the vapour into your mouth first and then inhale.
RDTL (Restricted Direct to Lung) sits between MTL and DTL. The draw is more open than a typical MTL setup but still has some restriction.
DTL (Direct to Lung) generally uses more open airflow and is inhaled directly.
These labels are useful when narrowing down your options, but they shouldn't be used on their own to choose an e-liquid, pod or coil. Always check the requirements of the exact device.

Check the Pods, Coils and Refills Before You Choose
This is one of the things we'd recommend checking before buying any vape kit.
Some devices use pods with the coil already built in. When the coil reaches the end of its useful life, you replace the pod. Other devices use separate coils, so the pod or tank can continue to be used while the coil is changed.
Prefilled systems work differently again, using replacements made for that particular device.
Don't assume two pods or coils are compatible just because they're made by the same brand or look similar. Match the replacement to the exact device and product family.

What to Check Before Buying
How is it filled? Prefilled or refillable.

How much control do you want? Some kits are deliberately simple; others offer adjustable wattage, airflow and additional controls.
What's actually in the box? Don't assume spare pods, coils, e-liquid or a charging cable are included. Check the individual product.
